How did the rose
Ever open its heart
And give to this world
All its beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light
Against its being,
Otherwise,
We all remain
Too frightened
Daniel Ladinsky’s rendition of Hafiz
A little gem of a poem, simple and true. It reminds me how important that “encouragement of light” against my being is, when I notice the habitual voice of self criticism with its newsreel of my failures. How can I speak to myself more kindly? How can I meet myself with warmth? And where might I take in the good of others who support or appreciate me?
May we all blossom, and flourish in our lives…
