Easter Saturday Online Practice Day: Four Foundations of Mindfulness
Four Foundations of Mindfulness
Insights from the Noble Eightfold Path of the Buddha
with Choden on Saturday 19th April 2025 from 10.00am- 16.00pm
The Four Foundations of Mindfulness is a core teaching of the Buddha. It is part of the Noble Eightfold Path that sets out the path to Nirvana. It is known as the Satipatthana Sutra and is one of the most revered texts in Buddhism. It is the main teaching on mindfulness in Buddhism and it includes 4 domains of mindfulness: body, feelings, mind states and Dharma. The first three relate to our experience of body and mind and the last one is how we can understand and work with our experience through the lens of the Buddha’s teachings. As secular practitioners, the Four Foundations can add depth to our meditation and provide a broader context for approaching our mindfulness practice. We will explore the following:
- How we find the right balance in meditation between effort, concentration and mindful awareness
- The 4 stages of mindfulness of breathing taught by the Buddha
- How mindfulness naturally diminishes negative states of mind and enhances positive states
- Hindrances and factors of awakening
The retreat day will be a combination of short teachings, guided practices and shared exploration. To book please click ‘Book Here’
